The representations of identity, relativism and reality in Funke Akindele’s Jenifa’s diary.

The research explored the construction of the relativism and (or) reality of social life, using the Nigerian society as represented in situation comedy (Sitcom), using Funke Akindele’s performative roles in Jenifa’s Diary. It employed qualitative design, and adopted Critical Stylistic (CS), transitivity, in Halliday’s Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL) and Jacob Mey’s Pragmatic Acts. It uncovered the framing of social actors as ‘saboteurs’, ‘welfarists’ ‘activists’, ‘realists’ ‘opportunists’, ‘betrayers’ and ‘radicalists. In the Sitcom, using humourous linguistic texts (language).
